ZANDER HEIKKILA
I enjoy subject-based work. I prefer drawing, creating, and very rarely sculpting figures, based on my imagination. Characters, creatures, made-up fauna and flora, crossing a variety of genres, settings, and motifs. Sometimes, I draw some inspiration from existing media or current events, such as the recent CoronaVirus pandemic, but I try to be purely original in my work. Characters and creatures, cute and horrifying, I enjoy drawing them all. I work digitally, or in physical 2D mediums. Ultimately, I seek to show what happens in my mind for others. I wish to present and inspire future artists with my designs, and to add my name to the long list of fellow concept designers. I hope to get my works featured in the entertainment industry, so that a wider audience can appreciate the people, creatures, and worlds I create. I grew up with a love of films, video games, and novels, both graphic and text-based. I wish to leave my mark on the creative world, and to inspire others to follow my path. One of my works, a recent one titled “The Aristocrats”, was a series of digital paintings, made by combining regal victorian portraits with images of animals. Printed and framed by fancy-looking frames bought from Amazon, they were meant to be a contrast against the idea of “high society”. They were originally designed, inspired from existing media, and displayed in a way I felt was proper for the works. This is an example of what I seek to do, at least in the fine-arts sphere. No matter what works I produce, I wish to display them to inspire others as I have inspired.
