Three Women’s Quest
A Group Exhibition by Sonia Kraftson, Mary Murphy and Lacina Thompson
Sonia Kraftson
Sonia investigates relationships between exterior surfaces and the structures that support their shape. She builds forms and conceals objects inside. A paper bag might carry depression meds, food waste, or rib bones. Through a skin or film, she hides something of herself. Her paintings are fragile attachments of surfaces to underpaintings where both faith and fear hover.
Mary Murphy
Mary’s watercolor paintings search for and express the unbounding peace, beauty and mystery to be found in nature. Her hope is that her art causes the viewer to pause, take a breath and smile at the little miracles all around us, connecting art and nature with the mind and soul.
Lacina Thompson
In my artwork I have created “little moments” with my kids as a stay at home mom. These “little moments” capture their growth and experiences but also helps me remember the challenges and triumph of being a parent. Using light watercolor washes, I create these feelings of stillness, warmth, and permanence.
